The Journey of Jeremy J. Glenn – Sr Pastor of S.O.I.L. Church
Just a little bit about me, and the journey that I’ve been on that has ushered me to this point in my life; I’ve been in church all of my life, and I attended a church in West Texas by the name of Alexander’s Temple, Church of God in Christ. As a young boy, I always had a knack and a heart for rhythm, and would beat on my Grand Parents pots and pans. At the age of 4, I was blessed with a drum set for Christmas that year. I loved drum beating, and I loved being able to play along with songs, and discovered my talent for playing drums efficiently at age 5.
I started playing the drums at my church around this time, and became the official drummer for the church, and this is when I was introduced to music ministry. I continued on playing the drums for my church and joined the middle school and high school marching and concert bands and orchestras. This is where I learned how to read sheet music and enhance my musical craft. In High School, I was placed in a leadership role on the drum line at age 16, and this is where I first began understanding the role and the responsibility of leadership. I have always been a person that welcomed a challenged, and I developed a strong work ethic at an early age as well. This allowed me to receive a college scholarship to study music performance and education at West Texas A&M Universtity.
As a teenager growing into manhood, there were several ways my life could have turned out, and decisions that could have been made that could have taken me down a path of destruction. I certainly made my share of mistakes and poor judgements, but I thank God for the early lessons of leadership, and to have been rooted in church ministry at an early age. These seeds planted early in my life, helped mold and shape me into the man that I am today.
I was baptized at age 24, and decided to grow deeper in my walk with Christ, and I started to have different dreams that showed glimpses of ministry of the gospel. Before my wife and I became married, we made a decision to keep Christ first in our relationship, and we started sharing scriptures and sermon notes with each other on a daily basis. As we continued to stay diligent with this, God continued growing us individually and collectively to new levels in Him.
Once we got married, we stayed true to keeping Christ first, and started having weekly Bible studies. We introduced this culture to our daughter at an early age, and we enjoyed watching the harvests unfold in her life as well. At times we would have different people and family members over to sit in our Bible studies, and we began to grow in our Biblical studies and teachings.
Back in 2004 at a job I had at the time, I was sharing the gospel with one of my co-workers, and she was sharing with me about her family Bible study as well. I shared with her that one day I would start an online ministry (and this was before the online streaming platforms are what they are today) and I had a compelled feeling deep down inside that I was supposed to lead a ministry, and that feeling stayed with me for many years to come. In 2011, the Lord spoke into my spirit that it was time to prepare for ministry, and I acknowledged and accepted my call to ministry. However, I spent 17 years growing in ministry under the Leadership of Pastor Rickey G. Rush, Sr Pastor of the Inspiring Body of Christ in Dallas, TX. There I learned many things about leadership from all aspects of a church as well as leading people from all walks of life. I was able to enhance my growth in biblical studies as well as participate in some areas of ministry in the IBOC church. I am very thankful and blessed to have received such rich knowledge and experience from Pastor Rickey G. Rush and the IBOC church, to help prepare me for ministry.
I didn’t know what any of this would ever look like. I didn’t know it would take me 17 years to become prepared for God’s calling, but when God prompted my heart to move, I moved along with the wind of the Holy Spirit that pushed me into position. So, in 2021, after much prayer and seeking God, the ministry was officially named Spirit of Inspiring Love, Church. The name of this church spells out an acronym of the word SOIL, and this acronym was inspired by the beautiful teaching of Jesus called the Parable of the Soils, found in Mathew 13:1-23. This church is a church that is founded on “good ground”, as this is the church that faith built. So, as we say at Spirit of Inspiring Love Church “Come grow with us in the Soil”, as we want to inspire the spirit of love, while growing in the Word of God. Beloved, this journey that we are on is all about growth, and God wants us to never stop growing in His Word, nor in our measure of faith. I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for preparing me for this part of my journey in life, and I look forward to being used as an empty vessel for God to play a role in helping build His Kingdom. I embrace my calling, and accept this challenge, knowing the Lord has equipped me for "such a time as this".
May God Continue to bless you in the SOIL of His Love and His Word!
Sincerely,
Pastor Jeremy J. Glenn
